The framework of an expert system supporting quality management
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-01-04-2014

Abstract: The current market conditions have led to the situation in which the companies operate in an environment in which having a certificate of quality management system is insufficient to ensure and guarantee customers’ satisfaction on one hand, and effectiveness and efficiency of the implemented pro-quality system on the other. Activities related to the identification and assessment of non-compliance are extremely important and critical in terms of achieving the desired objectives of quality management. Due to the numerous difficulties associated with these activities and the limited use of traditional methods and support tools in this regard, the authors developed the concept of the expert system in the following article. The aim of the system is to ensure effective supervision of all non-compliances arising in the operation of any organization that intends to improve the quality management systems.
Key words: quality management system, improvement, expert system

Using the Pareto diagram and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to identify key defects in a product
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-02-04-2014

Abstract: The article presents the results of studies conducted in a company manufacturing aluminium forgings for the automotive industry. The aim of the research was to identify the defects which form during the production process as well as the locations and causes of their occurrence. Selected quality management tools were used in the process. Based on the FMEA and the costs generated by the identified defects, a hierarchy of them was created for the company along with a proposal of improvements in case of the most significant ones in order to reduce their number and increase the detection efficiency.
Key words: quality, FMEA, Pareto, defect, management, production engineering, forging

The importance the analysis of data in risk management
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-03-04-2014
Abstract:
The article presents the meaning of the data analysis in the context of risk management. Managers often do not notice the need of making deep analyses and they try to make decisions in a nonsystem way. The author pays attention to the process of risk management that is aimed at facilitating the functioning of the organization (by broadening one's knowledge about its functioning) and the significance of acquiring information from various sources.
Key words: risk management process, data, information

An analysis of the causes of product defects using quality management tools
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-04-04-2014
Abstract:
To stay or strengthen its position on the market, a modern business needs to follow the principles of quality control in its actions. Especially important is the Zero Defects concept developed by Philip Crosby, which means flawless production. The concept consists in preventing the occurrence of defects and flaws in all production stages. To achieve that, we must, among other things, make use of quality management tools. This article presents an analysis of the reasons for the return of damaged or faulty goods in the automotive industry by means of quality management tools such as the Ishikawa diagram and Pareto analysis, which allow us to identify the causes of product defectiveness. Based on the results, preventive measures have been proposed. The actions presented in this article and the results of the analysis prove the effectiveness of the aforementioned quality management tools.
Key words: quality management tools, Ishikawa’s diagram, Pareto’s analysis of product defectiveness

Algorithms variants of elaboration of the precise gnss network established for geodetic service of building of the mining facility
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-05-04-2014
Abstract:
The article presents the problem of the usage of post-processing services of the ASG-EUPOS system on the example of GNSS network established for geodetic service of building of the inclined drift, to make coal deposit accessible, and also building associated objects. For the purpose of geodetic service of construction realization network was established outside the planned objects. The network consists of six new ground points and four control points belonging to ASG-EUPOS network. Simultaneous, static measurements of the network were performed in three-hour observation session, using multi-frequency and multi-system satellite receivers – Trimble R8. The paper presents three variants of post-processing of the observation results. Calculations were performed using POZGEO-D service and  geodetic software package GEONET. The results of the calculation process revealed, that homogeneous vector networks should be adjusted on the ellipsoid or in the geocentric system. Model of adjustment of the vector network on the plane adopted in the GEONET software package should not be applied for elaboration of this type of network (long reference vectors more than 50km).

Evaluation of brown coal spontaneous combustion and sources genesis prognoses
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-06-04-2014
Abstract:
This article presents summarizing information about the solution of partial part of research problem of prognoses of deposited brown coal spontaneous combustion sources genesis as a part of project TA01020351 – program ALFA. We will gradually describe the results of long term measurements carried out on selected brown coal heaps realized from 2011 to 2013. The attention is devoted to characterization of key parameters. These parameters influence the genesis of combustion. The second problem is the comparison of results of thermal imaging with laboratory results of gas and coal samples sampled in situ, with the influence of atmospheric conditions (insolation, aeration, rainfall, atmospheric pressure changes etc.), with influence of coal mass degradation, physical and chemical factors and another failure factors to brown coal spontaneous combustion processes.

Quality of supply guaranteed in systems of shore supply connection of ships mooring in a port
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-07-04-2014
Abstract:
Increased sea transport with a constantly growing demand by ships for electric power means  higher emission of pollutions generated by ships to the atmosphere. To turn off automatic generator sets which are the main source of air pollution emissions by ships mooring in the port a ship has to be connected to the power land network. Quality of electric power supplied from the land is of a great importance connected with security of the work of naval systems and economical ship functioning. Complicated computer steering systems more and more frequently used on ships are very sensitive to disturbances and require energy supply of a very high quality. In this article basic information about quality of electric power supplied to the ship from the land network and chosen ways of its improvement are presented.
Key words: “shore to ship” system, electrical power quality, Total Harmonic Distortion, conversion of electrical energy

Capability assessment of measuring equipment using statistic method
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-08-04-2014
Abstract:
Capability assessment of the measurement device is one of the methods of process quality control. Only in case the measurement device is capable, the capability of the measurement and consequently production process can be assessed. This paper deals with assessment of the capability of the measuring device using indices Cg and Cgk.

Resistance test of deposited aluminium layer on parabolic parts of vehicle headlight
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-09-04-2014
Abstract:
This paper documents a basic quality measurement in an automotive light industry. The experiment is based on a verification of reflective aluminium layer resistance against 100% humidity and higher temperature. This simulates the lifetime of a headlight on vehicle. The goal of this test is to prove that the reflective aluminium layer is able to resist to this environment without any changes in its structure. If any change occurs, the modification of production process will be needed.
Key words: automotive industry, headlight, metallization, humidity, higher temperature, resistance
