Development of a matrix and algorithm of random situations for training simulators
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-01-01-2014
Abstract: Expert systems can be defined as computer programs, whose main task is to simulate a human expert, usually in a narrow field of expertise. Possible applications of modern information technology are very extensive, ranging from medicine, geology and technology to applications in the field of economic and financial decision support.
The purpose of this paper is to present the practical application of an expert system that supports the process of managing the production of yachts and has a high suitability for use in this application.
Using the expert system described in the paper reduces the time during the design and production preparation process.
Key words: expert systems, information technologies, production of yacht

Risk assessment of decreasing the failure of thermal liquid collector
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-02-01-2014
Abstract: Object of the study is an evaluation of applied remedies at a process of decrement of failure of the thermal liquid collector by application of FMEA method. Remedies that lead into the minimisation of failures are proposed after identification and evaluation of potentially failures.
Key words: risk assessment, collector, failure

Variants of determining the manufacturing cost of a product in a production unit in the light of balance sheet law
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-03-01-2014
Abstract: The category of the manufacturing cost of a product is one of the most important ones from the point of view of proper valuation of the assets of a production unit, costs of its operations as well as pricing decisions. This article presents the problem of determining the manufacturing cost of a product in terms of balance sheet law. It has been shown that in order to determine this value various methods and options are allowed by this law, by means of which different values of manufacturing cost of a product are obtained. The importance of a proper selection of an allocation key in settlement of indirect production costs has been highlighted as well as the results of using, in certain cases, approved simplifications in the balance sheet law when determining the manufacturing cost of products have been demonstrated. The problem presented in this article is crucial from the point of view of an organization and management of production  as well as managerial decision-making in a company in the area of design of products and processes.
Key words: manufacturing cost of a product, finished product, management of production processes

Model of cooperation of the system of education for industry—conceptual framework for educational claster
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-04-01-2014
Abstract: Education of staff for industry in Poland is carried out in vocational education system in schools, responsible for education of qualified workers and in system of technical universities, responsible for engineering education. This article concentrates on aspects of education of qualified workers. There is presented model of cooperation institution responsible for vocational education for industry on the basis of concept of educational cluster. The first part of the article describes aims and determinants of cluster formulation. The second – model of structure of educational cluster, particularly: stakeholders of cluster (potential participants of cluster), scope of cooperation, information flows and stakeholders’ activities. The last part of article discusses possibilities of implementation the model: (a) by creation educational strategies and (b) by caring out projects concentrated on particular problem.

Building innovation capability for Libyan firms, taking advantage Polish firms experiences
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-05-01-2014
Abstract: Big changes observed on the market nowadays are forcing companies to choose to innovative solutions aimed at reducing the time of delivery, efficiency and quality. This is essential for the survival of these companies. For this reason, there is a need for continuous assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the company as well as improve its capability to innovate at the operational level. In this paper we discussed an example of the use of a method called Complex Solutions Operations (Total Operations Solutions), [2] the ability to self-assessment in selected Libyan companies using the experience of Polish enterprises.
Key words: Total Solutions Operations, self-assessment, capability to innovate in the enterprise, comparisons

Assessement of influence of cutting tool breakage on drive life time of cutting unit of heading machine

DOI 10.12914/MSPE-06-01-2014
Abstract: In this work a necessity to develop means of technical diagnostics of cutter's performance without stopping heading machine was grounded. There was theoretically demonstrated the possibility of essential decrease in life time of transmission elements of cutting unit during prolonged work of heading machine with broken cutting tool. It was defined that influence of cutting tool breakage on life time of transmission elements depends on cutting tool position on cutting head according to the assembly drawing.
Key words: heading machine, cutting unit, cutting tool, life time, transmission, diagnostics

The use of AHP method in the multi-criteria task solving  - case study
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-07-01-2014
Abstract: In the decision-making process, both single- and multi-criteria tasks are dealt with. In the majority of cases, the selection of a solution comes down to determination of the “best” decision (most often based on the subjective assessment) or to organisation of the set of decisions. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is one of the methods used for evaluation of qualitative features in the multi-criteria optimisation processes. This article discusses the possibilities of using the above-mentioned method, illustrated with an example of purchasing technical equipment for one of the municipal landfill sites in the Silesian Province.
Key words: decision-making process, the method Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP)
